FAQ's

  • You’ll have a series of meetings or calls, where we’ll ask questions and listen to understand your situation.
  • My job is to learn what matters most to you, help you organize the big picture, catch blind spots, and make wise decisions —so you feel peace about your path forward.
  • You don’t need to be a finance expert. I’ll help you build clarity, one conversation at a time.
  • Great question. I work with people from all backgrounds—no sermon, no pressure. My Christian faith shapes how I serve: with integrity, humility, and a commitment to long-term stewardship of your financial life.
  • I do believe in using time tested principles and strategies for building wealth, many of which have been around for 2,000 years or longer.
  • You don’t need a fortune to make progress—just a desire to be intentional.
Many mid-career clients may have between $100k and $500k in investments.
  • Retirees and Higher-net-worth clients holding $1M to 5M or more in investments will likely benefit even more from planning, because the complexity—and the cost of missteps —increases as you build wealth.
  • If you are just getting started investing, whether it’s retirement, a goal for a major purchase, or saving for kids’ futures, I’m here to help.
    • I take a steady, goal-based approach to investing—focused on building long-term wealth without the noise or gimmicks. Most client portfolios are made up of low-cost ETFs, mutual funds, and sometimes individual stocks, carefully selected to match your goals, timeline, and risk tolerance.
    • As your advisor, I have discretion to manage your portfolio within a range we agree on. For example, if your target mix is 60% stocks and 40% bonds, I might adjust that mix —say to 50% or 70% stocks—based on market shifts or interest rate changes. This allows me to respond thoughtfully to opportunities when a change is warranted.

I also monitor for portfolio drift over time—when your mix slowly changes as markets move—and rebalance to keep you on track. And when appropriate, I use tax loss or gain harvesting strategies to help reduce your tax bill or make use of lower tax brackets.

  • This may sound complex now, but I’ll walk you through it all clearly during your investment-specific planning meeting. My goal is to help you feel confident about what you own and why—without the jargon or confusion.

  • Absolutely. Financial regret is more common than you think—and it’s never disqualifying. I’ve known folks who bought the Harley before paying taxes, cashed out the 401(k) for a business idea that didn’t float, or avoided their finances until it hurt.
  • We’ve all got money moments we’d rather forget. What matters is that you’re ready to move forward.
Honestly, the hardest part is just showing up. It’s like stepping on the scale after a while—you brace for the number, but what matters is that you look… and start. My goal is that you leave our first meeting feeling relieved, even hopeful—because you start to get a good sense of where you stand.
  • Most clients pay a fee based on the assets I manage for them. My standard advisory fee starts at 1.25% and decreases for larger portfolios. This fee is deducted directly from your investment account—so you’re not writing checks or getting invoices. As your portfolio grows, my compensation adjusts, keeping our interests aligned.
  • I’m a fee-only advisor, which means I don’t earn commissions or kickbacks on the investments or other financial products I recommend to make your plan work. I work for you—not for a brokerage or large financial services company.
  • For clients not looking for ongoing investment management, I also offer flat-fee planning packages, with one-time costs ranging from $750 to $3,000, depending on your situation. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying before we begin—no surprises, no hidden percentages.

    • You’re paying for clarity, strategy, and guidance that fits your life. I’m here to help you make wise decisions and avoid costly mistakes, including the mistakes of inaction you may not know about. Typical clients may save money on taxes, better understand their social security, medicare, and other pension benefits, and spend their wealth with more confidence. We also help you understand your estate plan, making sure accounts are titled correctly, that what you’ve worked hard to accumulate is a blessing to the next generation. I also help people give to their family and charities with confidence, guiding you through more complex strategies to pass wealth to great causes.
    • Bonus Insight: A well-aligned advisor may help improve financial outcomes by up to 3% per year, according to a Vanguard study on Advisor outcomes. But beyond numbers, you gain peace, accountability, and a second set of eyes on everything that matters.
  • Most people have pieces of their financial life in place—but no clear picture bringing it all together. I often help clients:
    • Plan for retirement income
    • Make sense of job changes or business transitions
    • Navigate charitable giving and estate questions
    • Coordinate insurance, taxes, and investments into one strategy
    • Select and Manage investments over time to reach your goals
  • Even if you’ve done a lot already, we’ll sharpen and align what you have.
    • Yes. Your investments are held safely by a third-party custodian, not by me.
      • I work with Altruist—a modern, transparent platform built specifically for independent advisors. They handle trade execution, reporting, and custody, while I serve as your planner and advisor.
      • Altruist Brochure (best resource)
  • Not some Gordon Gekko sales pitch.
  • No suits screaming “trade!” into the phone. No complicated products. No pressure.
  • You’re getting a calm, grounded advisor who listens first, builds a real relationship, and helps you make wise decisions with your money. That’s it. No fluff. Just guidance with purpose.
